A Unique Opportunity...

Internship Opportunity

Our internship program offers a unique opportunity to become involved in gallery operations and to engage with artists spanning a wide-range of photographic practices.  We work with the intern to emphasize hands-on exposure to gallery activities of particular interest and we tailor a schedule to suit individual circumstances.  We are delighted to benefit from the intern’s energy, enthusiasm and abilities.

Interns come to us from a variety of backgrounds.  Some are still in college (and may be able to qualify for school credit); some have already graduated. All gain exposure to everything that goes on at the gallery.

We introduce interns to the many different aspects of gallery management (both artistic and administrative), such as:

  • portfolio review;
  • installing work;
  • assisting exhibitors;
  • running international competitions;
  • working with social media;
  • updating contacts;
  • creating and sending out publicity;
  • maintaining the website;
  • working on the archives;
  • running special events; and
  • maintaining the gallery premises.

Interns also have the opportunity to engage with the public as gallery staff.  Over the course of a typical month, an intern will be at the Gallery with a score or more of different Soho Photo photographers, giving the intern unparalleled access to artists with varied creative processes.

To Apply:

Please email us (subject: Internship), and let us know something about you and your specific interests in gallery work and photography.  Please explain your internship goals and pose any questions you may have. (This need not be a long essay.) Then we will arrange an interview in person or by phone during which we can explore the possibility of your becoming a Soho Photo Gallery intern.
